Diverting away from the original topic of how taco shells came to form the universe- I would rather begin a discussion on the subject of predestination. For those readers of mine who don’t know what predestination is, here is a very brief description offered by Theopedia, an encyclopedia of Christianity:   Predestination in its broadest conception is the doctrine that because God is all-powerful, all-knowing, and completely sovereign, he “from all eternity did by the most wise and holy counsel of His own will, freely and unchangeable ordain whatsoever comes to pass,” (Westminster Confession). “In him we have obtained an inheritance, having been predestined according to the purpose of him who works all things according to the counsel of his will” (Ephesians 1:11). http://www.theopedia.com/Predestination. So in basic term predestination is a theory that is put forth that deals future events that are predestined or ordained by God to happen. Some believe that all Christians were predestined before they were born to be saved while others were not. There are also others who believe that they were predestined for greatness. The list of people who believe that they were predestined to do this or that – to rule this civilization or that civilization has no end and neither does their ego. Who are they to decide that they are better than their neighbor?

To me predestination is a theory that has two sides, the first is that God is omniscient(all knowing, all powerful), thus he already knows what is going to happen- who will be saved and who will not be saved. He knows every aspect of every persons life. So in that sense predestination does exist and is quite relevant. On the other hand humankind is not all knowing and a single person doesn’t know who is going to be saved and when(unless specifically revealed to them by God). So what right does an individual have in saying that these certain people will be saved  and these ones are condemned to eternal damnation. Nor does an individual know what God has in store for him in his future(again if this is revealed by God then the circumstance would be slightly different; however it should be kept private and shared with only a few trusted people- remember Josephs mistake)so for someone to say that they were predestined to become president of the united states or a wealthy millionaire – before this has become a reality – is a foolish and naive notion. They very well may become one of these two things or they could become something completely different. Remember the schemes and plans of men are not always in line with the  plans of God(in fact most of the time they are not even close- something that I have had to learn personally and am in fact still learning).

In conclusion, the talk of predestination is a void and pointless subject given that only God knows the entire history of the universe from start to finish and he is the only one that knows every single aspect of your life. No one knows what will happen to you in the near and distance future that has not already been laid out(I know I personally  would like to know more of what is going to happen in my future- but that is not the way God has ordained it for this time). Besides would you honestly want to know every single aspect of your life before it happened? Wouldn’t that ruin the surprise that was laid in store for you at  a specific time; thus making life and the notion of free will, which will be discussed in the next blog  completely meaningless? My personal answer to all of that is Yes. Tell me dear reader what do you think?
