“It all began in the year 1700, there was a slave girl whose true name has been lost to time. But that has little importance to our story. As I mentioned, this slave was picked up by the Cole foundation who specialized in bioengineering, gene therapy and all other aspects in the science spectrum. In this particular case, they were looking to confirm a theory that they had long believed to be true. Usually, such things would be considered a waste of resources, but this time, a certain clientele was funding the project and so the Cole organization was more than willing to go ahead with the experiment. Much of the official accounts and who the clientele was, were purposely destroyed, however,” here Doctor Rotter paused to catch his breath, “The slave girl, however, was given the means of documenting her story and was ordered to do so in great detail. What she was not able to record, was record for her and then these records were locked away from the public eye for hundreds of years. What I have before me today are these documents, to which I will now read to you.
June 7th, 1700.
“I never knew my real name, I was always referred number 5309, though now I’ve been told that my new name is Princess Ribbet and that I’m going to be taking place in a number of experiments that will possibly cement my name in history. I don’t know what to think about this, but I do know that I don’t have a choice, slaves never have a choice about the going ons in the world around them. I do have to say this, my owners have been exceedingly kind in their treatment of me, though I expect that’s due needing me in good working condition, for whatever lies ahead. They’re one requirement is that I keep a detailed journal of all that’s going on. At first, they handed me pen and paper, but after noticing my difficulties in using such antiqued devices, they took those away and gave me a recorder in its place. So, this is my first entry- I’m sure that there will be more to come- how many more, though I don’t quite know.
Princess Ribbet.
