Jill laughed, “Jack you’re a fool. When I gave you back the pistol, I had already pulled out the firing pin. The gun won’t fire.”
“Let’s test that little theory,” Jack replied calmy pointing the pistol at Jill and squeezing the trigger. The gun clicked.
“See, I told you that it wouldn’t fire.” Jill exclaimed. “Now put the gun down and we’ll talk about this civilly.”
“Hold on a minute,” Jack replied, as he started to fiddle with the pistol. “I believe that it’s just jammed”
Jill was on her feet in an instant, leaping over the table in an effort to ensure that she got to the gun before Jack had a chance to clear it. Wrapping her hands around the pistol, Jill indivertibly pulled it against her chest, as she tried rip gun from Jacks hands. Having cleared the chamber, Jack wrenched the pistol back from Jill, his finger jerking the trigger as he did so. The gun went off with a loud bang, and Jill stumbled back gripping the gapping hole in her chest.
“I’m sorry Jill,” Jack whimpered, as she collapsed to the floor. “I never intended for this to happen, why did you have to go and do something stupid?”
“Well Jack, that is what happens when you go around playing with a loaded gun.” The general replied. “However, there still may be away around this. Frist though, I need you to put that gun down.”
“And then what?”
“Well, then we will go back into the digital world and deal with this Moxie problem together. Afterall, we both know that this program doesn’t stand a chance without you. Jill, Jill was a valuable asset, but you Jack are the real brains behind this operation. You always have been and always will be. Now do we have a deal?”
Jack thought for a moment, then raised the pistol and emptied the clip into the general, “No deal.”
