Having reached the top, Jack wasted no time in prying the door open. Pulling himself in, Jack rushed over to Jills computer and punched in the code to activated the teleporter. With a click and a hum, the machines kicked to life, as the numbers began to countdown on the computer. Walking quickly over to the containment center, Jack pulled the grenade from his pocket and pulled on the pin. Waiting until he saw Greg’s body emerge from around the corner, Jack chucked the grenade across the room and watched as it bounced coming to a stop a few feet from where Greg had been standing. Feeling his body beginning to fade, Jack smiled and waved good-bye as the grenade exploded with a bright flash of light.

Greg saw the grenade launch through the air. Without even thinking, he threw himself down the stairs as the grenade flashed a bright white. With his ears ringing, Greg pulled himself up of the floor and stumbled back up the stairs. The room that the grenade had gone off in, was destroyed. Greg looked around the room, the sensitive equipment that made the teleporter run was lying in pieces on the floor. ‘Whatever miracle of science that had existed here, is no more.’ Greg thought to himself. ‘However, who am I to decide this. That kind of thinking would be left to the scientists and engineers. They’ll probably piece everything back together and in no time the project will be up and running again.
Speaking of which, “I need to report to my higher ups.” Greg muttered to himself. “They should know what happened here. With the General now gone, I wonder who my new boss will be. Not that it matters any. I’m just a clock puncher…. for now.
