Going down the stairs and into the kitchen, Jill sat at the table and sipped a cup of coffee waiting for Moxie to wake up. Mother, as expected was doing the dishes and ignored Jill’s attempts at conversation. So, Jill sat there and waited for Moxie to make her appearance. A short time later, while Jill was swirling the remitments of the mud, that floated in the bottom of her mug, Moxie stumbled down the stairs, nearly tripping over the golden retriever that was laying at the bottom of the stairs. Raising its head, the dog grumbly watched Moxie stumble into the kitchen and open the fridge. Pulling out a half empty can of dog food, its top wrapped in tin foil, Moxie closed the fridge and pored the contents into light blue bowl beside her left elbow.

Not knowing when would be a good time to address the semiconscious girl, Jill placed her cup on the table, folded her hands on her lap and got straight to business “How did you sleep last night Moxie?”

“I slept alright,” Moxie replied. “The same as I usually sleep/”

“That’s good.” Jill replied.  “So, when you have a minute, I’d like to discuss something with you.”

“Yeah sure,” Moxie replied. Let me finish feeing Rover here and then we can talk about anything you want too.”

“Okay, that sounds fair, Jill replied, as she picked up the coffee mug and swirled the remnants around, before placing the mug back on the table. “So look, I don’t know how much time you actually have….” Jill began….”

“I have all day,” Moxie replied. “But right now, I’m trying to feed my dog. It will only take a few minutes and then I will answer any questions you might have. Is that acceptable to you?”

Not bothering to reply, Jill simply nodded and returned back to her coffee mug
