The dogs want to be on my lap, even though I’m trying to get some writing done. This of course is nothing unusual. For this reason. I usually close the door to the office. Unfortunately, this time I didn’t and now my concentration and typing is off.

But how do I turn it back on?

Do I try to write a spot of poetry? I have not done that in a while.

How about a short story – these usually turn out pretty good. It takes sometime to write and then edit. But when I’m done. It is decent.

I do know, that I have to leave in a few minutes to pick my wife up and when I get back- there will be no more time for writing.

So then the question is, what do I write about?

Should I write nonsense random stuff. That after it is placed together, it makes sense…or doesn’t.

I could of course thro this all away and start editing, Project November. Go knows that that rough draft needs to be torn up and rewritten again.

Then again, I could also draw up a blue print that details the plans I have for the room upstairs and what each symbol represents. W for White and P for purple. I’ve also been tempted to get wooden stars and hearts and paint them the two different colors so that they contrast the walls they will be placed on….though this idea will probably be shot down….

So then the question remains, what should I write about…

Unless…

Nah, I couldn’t

Unless….

I write about writing and all the possible things I could write about. I know it feels like a cheat…but I’m already here so I may as well finish with this. Write what you want to write. If you can’t think of anything to write. Then just write and it may reveal itself to you as you are typing.

Sincerely,

Richard Polk
